Mindteck Wins Home Automation, AMI And System Integration Work In Smart City Pilot Project At IIT-Kanpur

Unique project will include demonstration of effective demand response for smart homes having smart meters synced with home automation

Bengaluru, India – September 01, 2016: Mindteck, a global technology company (BSE: 517344 and NSE: MINDTECK), today announced that it is implementing a smart city home automation, Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) and system integration solution in collaboration with IIT-Kanpur. The pilot project is being jointly funded by the Ministry of Power, Government of India and IIT Kanpur. The site involves selected residential houses in the IIT-Kanpur campus, as well as hostels in the surrounding area.

The scope of the project encompasses the supply, testing and commissioning of AMI, Home Automation System and system integration, including:

• Deployment and commissioning of single-phase and three-phase smart meters;
• Deployment of communication system for the AMI and related headend and Meter Data Acquisition System (MDAS) and Meter Data Management (MDM) software;
• Installation of home automation devices to remotely control and connect appliances to enable demand response;
• Control Center set-up to support the AMI infrastructure;
• Training for smart meter configuration, headend platform and associated communication network;
• Integration of a solar roof top to the MDAS system to track the energy consumption and the feed to the grid; and
• Integration with the Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) system with MDAS and MDM.

At a broader level, among other functionalities, the pilot will provide consumers with real-time verification of demand response, thus enabling them to manage their consumption vis-à-vis the varying electricity rates.
