Software Development Kit for Smart Home Controllers

Challenge

Our US-based client is a provider of high-performance radio frequency (RF) systems for applications that drive wireless and broadband communications. The client’s Software Development Kits (SDKs) provide solutions for ultra-low power wireless communication for smart home devices such as dimmable and color lights, thermostats, smart plugs, switches and door/window sensors. Their latest chipset includes solutions for ZigBee and Bluetooth Mesh apps, while the controllers support multi-stack features, such as a light application which can operate concurrently on both ZigBee and Bluetooth networks. For over three years, Mindteck has been engaged in developing an enhanced SDK for the upgraded controllers.

Scope

The scope of this open-ended project encompasses the cost-efficient development of an SDK for smart home controllers by leveraging our niche skillsets and technology know-how.

Solution

This ongoing project involves solutioning multiple sample applications in ZigBee/BLE/Bluetooth Mesh for smart home controllers, such as:

• Dimmable/color lights

• Switches

• Sensors

• Security-based door/window sensors

• Smart plugs

• Thermostats

Outcome

• ZigBee Alliance certification for color lights, door/window sensor and Touchlink light product,

• Cost optimization,

• Reduced time-to-market for end users of the SDK, 

• The longevity of the project is a testament to our niche knowledge and expertise.
