Flash Storage Testing

Challenge

For a leading provider of network storage services, hybrid cloud data services, and data management, we were engaged to complete end-to-end feature and functionality testing of flash drives with existing NAS heads within a short timeframe. 

Scope

The project scope encompassed end-to-end testing of Flash Cache with a coverage of all basic and advanced features.

Solution

Designed and developed end-to-end test automation for Flash Storage covering features, such as:

• Format/Partitioning, 

• Read, Write and Erase, 

• Bad Block Management, 

• Wear Levelling and Endurance, 

• Data Retention, 

• Self-Monitoring, 

• Analysis and Reporting Technology. 

Outcome 

• Early vendor flash validation throughout the entire test cycle, 

• Provided process to benchmark vendor flash performance by adding stress testing features to flash test automation.
