The Challenge

An oncology software company needed its cancer staging application to stay continuously in sync with the American Joint Committee on Cancer (AJCC) database while supporting a growing base of hospital installations. Two problems were compounding: clinicians needed current staging data for treatment decisions, and service engineers were spending excessive hours on-site performing manual pre-checks and installing updates — a model that couldn't scale.

The Mindteck Approach 

  • Built a database integration application to query the AJCC and other public cancer databases automatically, retrieve the latest staging data, and push it into the client's oncology workflow system — eliminating manual update cycles

  • Migrated the client's cancer registry database from on-premises SQL to Azure-hosted SQL, maintaining full data integrity and audit trails throughout

  • Developed a suite of service engineer tools — pre-check applications that validate the installation environment, download the latest approved build, and track deployment status across all hospital sites from a central dashboard

  • Implemented targeted performance optimisations to the oncology workflow management application, reducing query latency under high clinical load

By treating service engineer time as a product problem rather than a headcount problem, Mindteck enabled the client to scale hospital deployments without scaling field costs.

Outcome

Oncology teams at client hospitals now access current AJCC staging data automatically. The Azure migration delivered improved scalability and reduced infrastructure management overhead.
