| The Challenge |
| The objective was being part of a
team, which is setting up an enterprise integration backbone and
applications. The customer has diversified product lines and business
groups catering to different segments in the IT industry. In order
to manage its product lines and inventories efficiently in the
fast moving business environment, it always needs more accurate
and better information in order to take decisions. Identifying
the relevant information among the vast quantities of data and
knowing what really counts for business success has become one
of the greatest corporate challenges. SAP‘s Business Warehouse
(BW) meets the above by gathering the relevant business data for
strategic decisions and helps the top management to take good
decisions whether strategic or operational by going through the
business information quickly and efficiently with multi dimensional
views of the historical data.

The Solution

Our team took active participation in
the implementation. Some of the activities include:

Gathering requirements from the
BW users, APO users and the APO implementation team, analyzing
and defining the process in BW, testing and production release,
setting up of the profile generator, defining the user roles
and authorization profiles. |

Generating the profiles using profile
generator and assigning the roles to users, creating users Training
the users. |

Responsibilities included
setting up the Source systems, defining the RFC interfaces,
Defining generic extractors, activating the business content
in BW and R/3
|

Creating info source
and define transfer rules in transfer structure, activating
and de-activating the Conversion exits for info-objects, assigning
the data targets, manipulating the data load parameters in the
data targets, Deleting Requests from Info Cubes after Update,
Writing selection Routines, Defining Update Types viz Full,
Initial and Delta Updates

Scheduling the extraction
thro info packages, monitoring, and troubleshooting the extraction.

ODS, info objects, info catalogues Etc.
