| The Challenge |
Since inception, NAS file servers have kept user expectations high with features such as operational reliability, easy manageability resulting from low complexity, and low crash- and security-vulnerability. Given that NAS file servers are almost synonymous with fast problem diagnosis and rebooting, these ought to reach users fully optimized for security, scalability, performance and stability. Regression and interoperability testing, therefore, become imperatives. Our team was charged with verifying open firmware and running individual diagnostics tests on a broad range of servers functioning with different images; estimating the servers’ stress capacity; and verifying the support for multiple protocols and cluster setups, ensuring critical business process continuity. The big challenge lay in the verification and validation testing designed to uncover critical defects – a major step toward exceptional product releases.

The Solution

A dedicated offshore testing team – part of our India development center – operating out of a secure and committed testing zone, offered a comprehensive verification and validation testing solution. The testing services were crafted to ensure exceptional product quality prior to market release.
Both system and regression testing were performed. Oftentimes the hardware was tested using thorough automated test scripts that ran for days on end. UNIX shell scripts supported automated testing. Test logs and test results were delivered to the customer on a daily basis, post our analysis. Where possible, scripts were developed to automate manual test cases, significantly shrinking testing cycle time and enhancing testing process quality.
