| About The Customer |
The customer is a leading manufacturer of water pollution
monitoring products and chromatography instruments.
|
| The Challenge |
The project involved porting a Windows based application
to Windows CE. The existing Windows based application was used to
communicate with the customer's instruments, for configuration and
data acquisition.

The Solution
|
Our team successfully ported the application to Win
CE. The existing Windows based application was used to communicate
with the customer's instruments, for configuration and data acquisistion.
It consists of three main components, namely, NodeTalk32, NetSvr and
IscoLink. NodeTalk32 is the lowest level API while NetSvr is the middle
layer that connects the low level API with the user interface. The
user interface also uses CommSvr and DataMgr as intermediate libraries
for internal data manipulation. The NodeTalk32 APIs enable communication
between LON networks and supports the SLTA/2 protocol. It allows the
user to send and receive LONTalk messages. The intermediate library,
NetSvr (Network Server) provides a high level interface to the NodeTalk32
library. The NetSvr is responsible for translating high-level calls
to IAM packets such that the device understands them. The conversion
has been achieved using MS Visual C++ 6.0, MS embedded Visual C++
4.0, SP2 with Pocket PC SDK 2003, MS VSS 6.0 on the PDAs Hp Ipaq h5000
and h2215 along with the customer's instruments.

| The Benefits |
|
 |
Facilitating data retrieval from
devices at different sites by enabling the existing system on
PDAs with OS Pocket PC 2003 and Core OS WinCE.Net |
